With a name like Philipp Boss, one commands a certain level of respect - naturlich! The Frankfurt Am Main based producer has affiliations with local minimal house royalty like Hoer, La Pena, Pager and city institution Gosu, so he ain't messin' around. His next one comes courtesy of fellow Hessen homeboy Baba Osman's imprint. The Code North EP features a bunch of killer retro inspired jams that follow in the tradition of local heroes - from Anthony Rother to fellow contemporaries like the Traffic crew. The soulful analogue funk of the title track will no doubt bear comparisons to Dopplereffekt/Japanese Telecom, while there's funky-minimal-bleep house on the bumpin' "Sohallo" up next. On the flip, he bridges the gap between the two styles on the late night vocoder antics of "Live Needs Dialog".
